The No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2027 according to Inside Lacrosse has chosen where he will play his college ball.
James Holbrough, an elite playmaker from Berkshire (Mass.) and Sweetlax, has committed to North Carolina.
A 6-0 right-handed attackman, Holbrough draws comparisons to Grant Ament for his skip passes, vision and ability to hit off-ball cutters in tight windows.
But he can do much more with the ball in his stick, with Inside Lacrosse referring to him as a walking highlight reel. He amassed 86 points and was an All-NEPSAC selection in the spring.
North Carolina has done well in the first two-plus weeks of the 2027 cycle, adding Holbrough alongside fellow five-stars Anthony Asaro, a midfielder from Garden City (N.Y.); Luke St. Pierre, a defenseman from Lawrenceville (N.J.); Cole Stankavage, an attackman from Ardrey Kell (N.C.); Christopher Colsey, an attackman from Ridgefield (Conn.); and Tripp King, an attackman from Loyola (Calif.).
