Thrillers and history highlighted results in the latest USA Lacrosse Public High School Girls’ National Top 25 update that features two newcomers.

No. 2 Nyack (N.Y.) has played memorable games against Rye (N.Y.) over the years. Wednesday’s Section 1 Class C Girls Lacrosse Championship contest was just the latest. Kate Gould scored with 22 seconds left to give the Red Hawks a 13-12 win. Nyack trailed by four goals in the fourth quarter before rallying. The Red Hawks won the regular-season meeting by one goal back on April 8, but Rye had defeated Nyack last year in the section by a goal.

Huntington (N.Y.) debuts at No. 20 after securing its first Long Island Class A championship in 30 years. The Blue Devils defeated two-time defending champion Massapequa (N.Y.) 12-8 behind hat tricks from Valentina Puccio and Jolie Weinschreider.

Haddonfield (N.J.) moves back into the Top 25 at No. 24 after a 16-6 win over Bernards (N.J.) in the South Jersey Group 1 semifinal. Riley Austin and Grace Farrell had five goals apiece and combined for nine draw controls. Brooke Schultz had five draw controls, and Mackenzie Keleher made six saves.

No. 3 Chatham (N.J.) and No. 6 Summit (N.J.) both were decisive winners in their North Jersey Group 3 quarterfinal matchups. The top-seeded Cougars and the second-seeded Hilltoppers could meet June 10 in the group final if they both win their semifinals on Thursday. Chatham faces Northern Highlands (N.J.) and Summit takes on Morris Knolls (N.J.).

No. 5 Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) earned the Long Island Class C championship with a 10-6 win over No. 22 South Side. Bayport scored the first four goals of the third quarter to pull away.

Natalie Wilson scored six times and Sophia Graham had four goals as No. 7 Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.) held off West Genesee (N.Y.) 19-18 in a wild Section III Class A championship. West Genesee had won the past two Class B section titles.

No. 12 Moorestown (N.J.) scored back-to-back 19-0 wins in their group state tournament. They’ll face Ocean City (N.J.) in their semifinal. The winner faces either second-seeded Cherry Hill West (N.J.) or third-seeded Shawnee (N.J.).

No. 13 Springfield-Delco (Pa.) and No. 19 Conestoga (Pa.) both advanced in Pennsylvania 3A state tournament action. Springfield-Delco eliminated West Chester Henderson (Pa.) and will take on Pleasant Valley (Pa.) next. Conestoga defeated Wilson (Pa.) and will face a rematch against Archbishop Carroll (Pa.), a team it beat 10-9 last month.

Garden City (N.Y.) earned a 9-6 win over former No. 15 Smithtown West (N.Y.) in the Long Island Class B final to leapfrog into their spot. It’s the Trojans’ 14th straight win.

No. 18 Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) moved up two spots after beating Mattituck (N.Y.) 18-7 in the Long Island Class D title game. It was their fifth straight crown.
