The action will ramp up beginning this week as more of the country takes their first draw.
There is only one change from the preseason rankings on the national scene. Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) enters the Top 25 after knocking off West Region juggernaut Colorado Academy (Colo.) 11-5. It’s a huge win for SHP and early statement in the West.
In a top-25 matchup, No. 5 McDonogh (Md.) picked up from a very good year by stopping No. 23 Georgetown Visitation (D.C.). The Eagles were stellar defensively in their season opener. No. 4 Episcopal (Pa.) crossed state lines to stop an IAAM team, John Carroll (Md.) in their season opener.
There’s much more potential for movement going forward with a lot of the Mid-Atlantic Region starting this week — No. 2 St. Paul's (Md.) plays No. 10 Stone Ridge (Md.) today, for example — and the South and West in full swing. Some spring break trips coming up will have teams crossing regions to challenge each other and earn bragging rights for their school and region.
Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records reflect results as of previous Sunday.
