The USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 solidified over the week with no new teams entering the mix. One major result, though, made a big change in the ranking.
St. Paul’s (Md.) is one team rewarded for putting it together at the right time. In the toughest conference in the country, the Gators made the most of their opportunities in the IAAM playoffs to top another young, strong Maryvale (Md.) team in the semifinals before topping top-seeded McDonogh (Md.) for the league championship.
Stone Ridge (Md.), one of the teams to beat St. Paul’s earlier in the spring, also made a move up thanks to avenging a loss to Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) in the league championship. With the remainder of the Top 25 taking care of business, there weren’t any other significant changes.
Impact wins over strong teams, as well as noteworthy losses, along with the relative strength of opponents will continue to shape the Top 25 over the final weeks as each region completes its year.
High school rankings are compiled by USA Lacrosse Magazine writers with input from coaches around the country. Teams with post-graduate players are not eligible, nor are those from outside the United States. These rankings are not affiliated with the official USA Lacrosse High School Awards program overseen by area chairs.
