In conjunction with this year’s National Celebrate Lacrosse Week, USA Lacrosse is proudly recognizing volunteers from across the country who are helping to grow the game on the grass roots level. Each day, we will profile someone who makes a positive difference in their community. Join us as we celebrate local lacrosse heroes from coast-to-coast.

Name: Jaclyn Gaffney
Local Lacrosse Organization: Franklin Lacrosse Club
Location: Franklin, Wisconsin

How This Person Impacts the Local Growth of the Game:
Gaffney does a bit of everything for her all-volunteer rec club, which serves boys and girls in grades 1-8 in Franklin, a suburb community of Milwaukee. So many unrecognized hours go into all that she does. As club president, she is responsible for conducting the day-to-day management of the program and implementing decisions made by the leadership board. As a lacrosse parent herself, Gaffney serves as the main contact for the club’s coaches and parents while also making time to serve as a coach. She commits as much time as she can to help her girls enjoy the sport as much as she does.

Community Involvement & Contributions:
Gaffney is one of the club’s primary points of contact within the Franklin community, always seeking to bring new participants into the program. She positively promotes all things lacrosse and is always willing to have a conversation with anyone in the community who is remotely interested in the sport. Having never played the game, Gaffney invested many hours into learning as much as she could about the sport so that she could provide her players with the best playing experience and also help other parents to more fully understand the game.

What Her Peers Have to Say:
“Jaclyn’s had a huge impact on our club as a coach, president, parent and community member. She positively promotes all things lacrosse, and her team is now one of the most coveted within our club. When outside girls see their friends experiencing the game, they immediately want to join. She's a well-known member of the community who is always willing to talk about lacrosse, and trust me, she does.”
