The first of four monthly in-season updates to the Nike/US Lacrosse national and regional high school rankings will be posted Tuesday, April 9.
For eight straight years, high school lacrosse fans were accustomed to and expected to see the same name atop the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls' Preseason National Top 25. Each of those years, McDonogh led the way, unquestioned.
But 2019 is a new year, and the Eagles enter it without the 198-game win streak it had during the 2018 season. As a result of a McDonogh's loss to Notre Dame Prep in the IAAM final last May, the Eagles dropped in the rankings and Manhasset (N.Y.) took over the No. 1 spot by season's end.
Manhasset (N.Y.) remains at the top entering 2019, with the Eagles lurking behind at No. 2. Notre Dame Prep (Md.), meanwhile, finds itself at No. 4 in the preseason rankings.
