John Sardella, a longtime coach and contributor to the game, has released the latest children’s lacrosse books in his Quick Stick Harry Series. The books are Stick & Ball Learn How to Work Together and Stick & Ball ABCs of Lacrosse.
Quick Stick Harry was one of the characters developed for Sardella’s L is for Lacrosse book that he published through US Lacrosse in 2003. He launched the series in 2021 with Quick Stick Harry and the Ball Hog. He followed that up with Quick Stick Harry and the Legend of Lax Bro Johnny.
An educator, Sardella spent more than 30 years in the Liverpool (N.Y.) Central School District, serving as a teach for 16 years and a principal for 15 years. Now retired and living in Florida, he has also coached lacrosse for more than 30 years. He was inducted into the Upstate Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame in 2017.
In addition to his lacrosse books, Sardella gained acclaim for a book he wrote following a tragedy in his life. His wife, Margaret, was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and died seven years later. Not able to find a book to help him deal with the pain, he was inspired to write about his own journey with loss. He published A Journey without a Map: Stories of Loss, Grief, and Moving Forward. His goal was to help others dealing with loss know they were not alone and to help them move forward
