After numerous scrimmages against Canada, and internally, as the sixes discipline was developed on a trial basis, the U.S. men's program made its international sixes debut hosting the World Lacrosse Super Sixes event at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., in the fall of 2021. The U.S. went 3-1 in the round-robin event, splitting games with Canada while sweeping the Haudenosaunee Nationals.

In 2022, the U.S. played in its first championship event, competing at The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. The U.S. swept through pool play and beat eventual bronze medalist Japan in the semifinal round. Canada was too much in the championship game and the U.S. settled for the silver medal.

After a hiatus from international competition in 2023, the U.S. returned to the field in 2024 for the USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis. The U.S. posted three dominant wins over Colombia, Great Britain and Puerto Rico.

In 2025, the U.S. played in two major international events — the Atlas Cup at USA Lacrosse headquarters and the World Lacrosse Super Sixes in Canada. Utilizing split squads, the U.S. posted a combined record of 7-2 with both losses coming to Canada. At the Atlas Cup, the U.S. beat the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Puerto Rico, but lost to Canada in the round robin format. At Super Sixes, the U.S. went 4-0 in pool play, beat Australia in the semifinals and then lost to Canada 16-12 in the championship game.
