SPARKS, Md. – The Brogden Cup, a six-team event featuring the U.S. U17 and U19 Youth National Teams competing against their counterparts from the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Team Ontario, will be held at USA Lacrosse headquarters this weekend from Oct. 24-26.
This will be the second international event for the U.S. Youth National Teams this fall, following the Rivalry Challenge against the youth teams from Lacrosse Canada in September.
For the Brogden Cup, all games will be traditional full-field games with varying timing lengths depending on the day. Each team will play each other team twice, with the Haudenosaunee and Ontario U19 boys playing each other three times. Points will be awarded for each win to determine the overall Brogden Cup winner.
Started in 1988 to honor former Johns Hopkins goalie Mac Brogden, who represented the United States in the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles, the Brogden Cup originally pitted post-collegiate club players from the United States against Canadian players.
Since 2019, Team Ontario, USA Lacrosse, and the Haudenosaunee Nationals have competed for the Brogden Cup to grow international competition for some of the best youth lacrosse players in the world.
