Clean Sweep for Massachusetts / Rhode Island at National Tournament

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – It was a clean sweep for the Massachusetts/Rhode Island teams at the 93rd annual USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament. The region won the championships in the Air, Land and Sea divisions, including their top team winning the championship flight for the third year in a row.

This year’s edition of the National Tournament, held at SUNY Brockport, featured players representing high schools from 27 states and the District of Columbia.

In the Air division, it was an all-Massachusetts/Rhode Island final with Mass/RI 1 taking on Mass/RI 2. The teams elected to play a shortened game and Mass/RI 1won a tight 3-2 battle. Clara Blongastainer led the way, scoring two goals.

In the Land division, Massachusetts/Rhode Island 3 defeated Upstate New York 16-6 behind four goals from Kylie McAloon and three goals from Grace Trahan. Ava Doldo scored three times for Upstate New York.

In the Sea division, Massachusetts/Rhode Island 4 pulled away from Connecticut in the second half for a 13-7 victory. Meena Brosco, Julia Casey and Shaye Denning each scored four goals for Massachusetts/Rhode Island. Millie DiGiovanni and Kate Wable each scored twice for Connecticut.
