July 1 Deadline Nearing for USA Lacrosse Age Verification

By USA Lacrosse Staff

SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse’s investment in age verification provides a valuable resource for the lacrosse community to facilitate fair and safer play. For USA Lacrosse members, this is a free, one-time process in which they upload a valid proof of age document and their record will be updated to indicate age verified status.

Leagues and tournaments around the country can then work with USA Lacrosse — also free of charge — to utilize the service to appropriately segment players by age groupings.

“We have done age verification, manually, for almost 20 years, and having USA Lacrosse now handling this process is such a huge benefit,” said Eric Geringswald, president of the Long Island Police Athletic League Youth Lacrosse League. “Parents concerned about information privacy trust the security infrastructure that USA Lacrosse has in place. The reality is that age verification helps ensure competitive balance and fairness, and simply leads to a better experience for all involved.”

In order to make this process more efficient for all entities, USA Lacrosse announced last year that age verification would be required for all player members and that all documentation needed to be completed no later than July 1, 2025 in order to maintain all of their benefits. With the July 1 deadline looming, here are the key things to note:

  • All active player members who have not completed their age verification requirements by July 1 will have their membership moved to pending status.
  • All new player members have 15 days to complete their age verification requirement after their initial join date. If they have not completed the requirements within 15 days, their membership will be suspended.
  • Any active player member who has a renewal date before Dec. 31, 2025 has 15 days after their renewal date to complete their age verification requirements to avoid having their membership suspended.
  • Any active player member who has a renewal date after Dec. 31, 2025 must complete their age verification requirements no later than Dec. 31 to avoid having their membership suspended.
