SPARKS, Md. – The schedule for the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship on Jeju Island, Korea is out and the United States will open play with a battle against longtime rival Canada on August 16. The event, featuring 20 nations playing a total of 62 games, will be contested from Aug. 15-24.
The championship includes the 20 teams split into five groups for pool play. The top four teams from the 2022 edition of the event – United States, Canada, Haudenosaunee and Australia – were placed into Pool A, while the remaining 16 teams were snake seeded into pools based on their finishes at the 2022 edition of the tournament and balanced by Continental Federation.
Competition will take place at Gongcheonpo Training Center, with six to eight games per day across two fields. The center previously hosted the 2022 Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union Men’s Championship.
The United States has won all nine of the previous World Lacrosse junior championships dating to 1988, including a 12-10 victory over Canada in Limerick, Ireland in 2022. Following its opening game against Canada, the U.S. will play the Haudenosaunee on Aug. 17 and will complete pool play against Australia on Aug. 19.
Following pool play, there will be a round of play-in games on Aug. 20 with the quarterfinals set for Aug. 21. The semifinal games will be held on Friday, Aug. 22 with the medal games set for Sunday, Aug. 24.
The U.S. team is led by head coach Shawn Nadelen, a former gold-medal winning player with the U.S. senior field team in 2010 and the head coach at Towson University. The U.S. has 32 top college and high school players coming to Maryland for a training camp from June 9-11.
