USA Lacrosse has announced the addition of six players to its upcoming training camp in Charlotte for the U.S. Men’s National Field Team. Joining the camp will be Will Donovan, Chad Palumbo, Beau Pederson, Evan Plunkett, Ben Randall and Mikey Weisshaar.
The camp will be held from June 7-9, following the Premier Lacrosse League’s weekend in Charlotte, and will be the final training opportunity before U.S. head coach Seth Tierney names the 22 players selected to represent the United States in the 2026 Pan-American Men’s Lacrosse Championship in Kingston, Jamaica from Aug. 17-23.
The Pan-American Men’s Lacrosse Championship serves as a qualifier for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Japan. The top five countries will earn a bid to the 16-team world championship. USA Lacrosse will have additional competition and training opportunities before the final roster is selected for next summer’s world championship.
Donovan will be making his debut with the U.S. national team program. Donovan was a four-time All-America longstick midfielder at Notre Dame who was drafted by the Boston Cannons in the PLL. He won a pair of national championships with the Irish and finished his career with 130 groundballs and 67 caused turnovers.
Palumbo is an alum of the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program and is making his U.S. senior team debut. The attackman helped Princeton to the NCAA championship last month, scoring four goals in the championship game victory over Notre Dame. Palumbo scored 102 goals in his Princeton career and scored two goals in his pro debut with the Carolina Chaos last weekend.
Pederson made his debut with the U.S. team program last fall, including playing with the U.S. sixes team during the Atlas Cup. The short-stick defensive midfielder was an All-American at Princeton before spending his final grad year at Michigan, earning consensus first team All-America honors while helping the Wolverines win the Big Ten. He won a PLL championship with the Utah Archers in 2024 and was named to the all-tournament team at the PLL Championship Series in 2025.
Plunkett, a recent West Point graduate, is making his U.S. team debut. An offensive force as a midfielder, Plunkett was a three-time All-American at Army, finishing his career with 188 points, including a career-high 64 this season. Plunkett was the fourth overall pick in the PLL Draft by the Denver Outlaws and has three assists in his first two pro games.
Randall is a four-time PLL All-Star who earned second team all-pro honors in 2023 and 2024. He helped the Waterdogs to the PLL championship in 2022 and is now in his first season with the Denver Outlaws. A two-time first team All-American defenseman at Ohio State who started his pro career in Major League Lacrosse, Randall participated in the tryout process for the 2023 U.S. men’s national team that won gold in San Diego.
Weisshaar has previously participated in a sixes training camp with the U.S. national team, but will be making his field team debut. Weisshaar was a three-time All-American at Towson and recently graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 234 points. He was the second overall pick in the PLL Draft by the Boston Cannons and has two goals and an assist in his first three pro games.
Those six newly-invited players are replacing six players unable to participate – Gavin Adler, Jared Bernhardt, Jackson Eicher, Dylan Hess, Cole Kastner and Alec Stathakis.
