Strong Start Vaults Florida to Top in WCLA Division I Top 20

Fueled by impressive early season victories, Florida Club has jumped to the top spot in the first WCLA Division I Top 20 ranking of the 2026 regular season.

Ranked eighth in the preseason, the Gators vaulted to No. 1 after a 3-0 showing in the Big Dawgs Classic, highlighted by wins over No. 3 Michigan Club and No. 6 Clemson Club. UF will put its No. 1 ranking to the test with three games in Arizona this week, including a meeting with No. 20 Utah.

UC Santa Barbara jumped three spots to No. 2 this week after a historic 10-0 start to the season, including six wins over ranked opponents. The Gauchos will try to extend their run with three games in Arizona this weekend, including a matchup with No. 7 Georgia.

No. 3 Michigan Club, No. 4 Boston College Club, and No. 5 UCLA round out the top five.

No. 9 Virginia Club jumped eight spots from the preseason and is the highest ranked newcomer in the top ten. The Cavaliers have early season victories over No. 15 Notre Dame Club and Pittsburgh Club, with their losses coming in close games at No. 2 UCSB and No. 5 UCLA.

Overall, the first regular season Top 20 includes six teams that were not ranked in the preseason. In addition to Virginia, the other newcomers are No. 10 BYU, No. 11 Cal Poly, No. 12 Auburn, No.13 Texas, No. 15 Notre Dame, and No. 18 UC Berkeley.

Defending champion Boston College kicks off its season this week with a showdown against No. 3 Michigan and also faces tests against No. 17 Central Florida and Florida State.

Elsewhere, five Top 20 teams are among the squads competing this week in the Cactus Classic in Arizona, with three other ranked squads, led by No. 12 Auburn, gathering for games in North Carolina.
