Taylor Cummings, the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, has been named as one of 10 finalists for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 2022 Team Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Voting for the award winners began today at 10am EST and will conclude on Monday, August 22 at 11:59pm EST. Vote now at https://sportswomanoftheyear.com/

The winners will be determined by a combination of a public vote and the WSF Awards Committee’s vote and announced at the Annual Salute to Women in Sports on October 12, 2022. The winners will be two athletes – one individual finalist and one team sport finalist.

Cummings all-around dominance helped the United States win its fourth straight world championship this summer. The U.S. went undefeated, beating Canada 11-8 in the gold medal game at Towson University.

Cummings had 17 points, on 12 goals and five assists, in the tournament and also had 26 draw controls and USA-leading totals of nine ground balls and six caused turnovers to earn MVP honors. She was named to the all-world team for the second straight world championship.

Earlier in the 2021-22 campaign, Cummings finished atop the leaderboard in the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited professional women’s lacrosse league.
