USA Lacrosse and NCSI Reach Significant Milestone on Background Checks

By USA Lacrosse Press Release

USA Lacrosse and its partner in youth safety, the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI), are jointly celebrating the notable achievement of once again having 30,000 adult coach and volunteer background screenings completed.

USA Lacrosse mandates the national background screening as part of its join and renew process for all adult coach memberships.

NCSI is the exclusive background screening partner for USA Lacrosse and recognized as one of the nation’s leading providers of background screening services. It is a subsidiary of NBC Sports Next, the sports tech division of NBC Sports.

USA Lacrosse’s initial goal when formally partnering with NCSI in 2018 was to have 30,000 coaches and volunteers background screened within two years. Having surpassed that objective in early 2020, the organization targeted another 30,000 background screenings within the next two years when it renewed its partnership with NCSI in 2020.

“We’re proud of the success in reaching these goals with NCSI as our background check provider,” said Jason Vescovi, PhD, director of the Center for Sports Science at USA Lacrosse. “National background screenings are an important component of our Athlete Protection & Safety Program, helping to make our sport safe for all. We are extremely pleased to have renewed our agreement with NCSI and excited to continue working together for player safety.”
