USA Lacrosse and MedStar Health announced a five-year extension of the partnership between the two organizations, lasting through 2026. The new agreement continues the multi-faceted, long-term collaboration that was initially forged in 2016.
Some of the specific areas of collaboration include continued comprehensive sports medical care from MedStar Health for the 11 U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams and multitude of events held on the Sparks, Maryland campus. It also provides continued research, education and other support for USA Lacrosse’s Center for Sport Science.
In addition, the partnership includes MedStar Health’s sponsorship of the 2022 Women’s World Lacrosse Championship, to be hosted June 29 - July 9, 2022 in Towson, Maryland by USA Lacrosse.
“We appreciate the many contributions from people within both organizations that have made this partnership a success, and look forward to jointly continuing our shared goals of enhancing the young athlete’s experience in the future,” said Marc Riccio, president and CEO of USA Lacrosse. “Working together, USA Lacrosse and MedStar Health remain committed to the safety, wellbeing, and professionally guided recovery from injury for all lacrosse athletes, locally and across the country. We are also looking forward to continue our work with MedStar Health on helping athletes reach their full athletic potential by focusing efforts on performance.”
“This partnership represents MedStar Health at our best, working with USA Lacrosse to provide comprehensive state-of-the-art care and injury prevention for lacrosse players at all levels of play,” said Medical Director of MedStar Sports Medicine and Division Director for Sports Medicine at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, Richard Hinton, MD.
