SPARKS, Md. – The 93rd annual USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament is coming to Western New York for Memorial Day Weekend. The event features approximately 600 of the nation’s top high school girls’ lacrosse players competing on regional all-star teams from all over the country.
The event runs from May 23-24, with champions crowned in three divisions, and all games will be played at SUNY Brockport and streamed live on USALacrosseTV.com
Dating to 1933, the USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament has evolved into a key event for college coaches to evaluate high school players. Originally a regional event for women’s players as part of an annual national team selection process, the high school division was added in the 1980s and has flourished over the last few decades as one of the first big events on the recruiting calendar each year.
The USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament provides a unique opportunity for college coaches to evaluate recruits in new roles as the players participate on all-star teams as opposed to their high school and club teams. The geographic distribution of the teams also provides a platform for teams from developing lacrosse regions to see how they stack up against the traditional hotbeds while gaining exposure.
This year’s event coincides with the NCAA Division II and III Women’s Lacrosse Championships, which are being held at nearby RIT from May 21-24.
This year’s USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament event sponsors include Capelli Sport, Gait Lacrosse, Go Live Sports (USA Lacrosse TV), Halpern Travel, Lacrosse Specialties, NCSA, Rochester Sports Commission, SportsEngine and Sports Recruits.
