Longtime youth lacrosse volunteer Harry Jacobs, a member of the USA Lacrosse regional staff since 2019, was recently recognized for his dedicated service in supporting the growth of the game.

In his honor, the Long Island PAL Youth Lacrosse League has created a new award to recognize the individual volunteer who has given the most of themselves and who best exemplifies the values of Long Island PAL Youth Lacrosse. Fittingly, the inaugural recipient of the “Harold J. Jacobs Service to PAL Youth Lacrosse Award” was Harry Jacobs himself.

“Harry has done so much for the game of lacrosse and for kids on Long Island,” said Eric Geringswald, president of the Long Island PAL Youth Lacrosse League. “He has been involved with the PAL and youth lacrosse on Long Island since 1975 in many various roles -- too many to list. He has meant so much to so many of us and is so valuable to USA Lacrosse, PAL Lacrosse, and the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation that having this award named after him is only fitting.”

Jacobs sets the bar high for volunteerism in youth lacrosse and for being an example of what it means to give back to the game. He was presented with the award that bears his name last week during an informal celebration that included Geringswald and Mike Nelson, the president of the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation.

Jacobs serves as USA Lacrosse’s Regional Director for the North Atlantic Region.

“We extend a big congratulations to our friend and colleague, Harry Jacobs for this well-deserved honor,” said Marc Riccio, president & CEO of USA Lacrosse. “Receiving an award of this caliber is an honor – having an award of this nature actually named after you is next level!  The game is lucky to have Harry, and USA Lacrosse is even luckier.”
