Inducted as a truly great player, Schuman was a three-time All-American at the University of Maryland, earning first team honors in both 1994 and 1995, and third team honors in 1993. Schuman helped lead the Terps to two NCAA titles (1992 and 1995) during her career and served as captain of the squad as a senior in 1995. She was also selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game that season. In recognition of her accomplishments, Schuman was named to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.

As an international player, Schuman was a member of the 1997 U.S. World Cup Team that captured the gold medal in Japan, and she scored Team USA’s first goal in the 3-2 championship game victory over Australia. She was also a member of the 1996 U.S. Touring Team. As a two-sport college athlete, Schuman, a native of Havertown, Pa., also earned field hockey All-America honors twice at Maryland and was inducted into the University of Maryland’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
