Equipment Overview
OVERVIEW
Minimal equipment is required in girls' and women's lacrosse due to its non-contact nature. A stick, mouthguard and protective eyewear are the only required items for most players. Headgear and close fitting gloves are optional for field players. Goalies are also required to wear a helmet with face mask, a separate throat protector, padded gloves and a chest protector.

8-METER ARC
An arc marked in front of the goal used for the administration of major fouls. A defender may not remain in this area for more than three seconds unless closely marking her opponent.
CHECKING
Using stick-to-stick contact to try and dislodge the ball.
12-METER FAN
A semi-circle area in front of each goal circle bounded by an arc 12 meters from the goal circles.

Women's traditional field lacrosse is played 12-on-12 on a full-size outdoor field using a standard women's field layout, including goal circle, 8-meter arc, 12-meter fan, and shooting space markings. The game emphasizes speed, skill, spacing, and team play, with rules designed to promote player safety while allowing controlled physical positioning and stick checks.

Youth lacrosse is designed to introduce young players to the sport in a safe and developmentally appropriate environment. Follow these simple steps to get started with your organization's membership and registration process.
Create your account
Sign up for a free account on the USA Lacrosse website. You will need to provide your name, email address, and organization details.Set up your organization
Once your account is created, you can set up your organization profile. This includes adding your team name, location, and contact information.Invite your members
Send invitations to your players, coaches, and volunteers to join your organization. They will receive an email with instructions on how to complete their registration.
