It looked like Brunswick (Conn.) might lose its No. 1 national ranking — if not after a stunning loss to Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) then certainly as the Bruins trailed Lawrenceville (N.J.) by two goals late in regulation of the Prep National Championship semifinals.

But Brunswick rallied to tie the game, then defeated the Big Red for the second time this season in a 16-15 double-overtime thriller. Then the Bruins knocked off Deerfield (Mass.) for the title to remain at No. 1 in the latest USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration.

Western Reserve (Ohio), Culver (Ind.), Lawrenceville (N.J.), and Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) round out the top five.

Seton Hall Prep is one of three newcomers to the rankings. The Pirates' win over Brunswick is their biggest of the season. They've also beaten Delbarton (N.J.) and Chatham (N.J.) after a slow start to the year against a strong schedule.

Choate (Conn.) returned to the national rankings after picking up a win over Avon Old Farms (Conn.) that was ranked in the top 15. Choate will immediately face a huge test when it takes on Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) in the Founders League championship. Loomis Chaffee beat Choate, 11-4, just last week to close their regular season.

St. Anne's-Belfield (Va.) also earned a spot in the rankings. The Saints defeated Paul VI (Va.) in the Virginia state tournament after Paul VI captured their first WCAC title earlier in the week with a win over St. John's College (D.C.).

In one of the highest profile matchups last week, St. Anthony's (N.Y.) earned its seventh straight NSCHSAA championship with a one-goal win over Chaminade (N.Y.).

Calvert Hall (Md.) repeated as MIAA A Conference champion. The Cardinals won handily over McDonogh (Md.) in a matchup of the two most dominant MIAA programs of the last decade. It's the Cardinals' sixth championship since 2017.

Other notable developments:

Malvern Prep (Pa.) is the top seed in the PAISAA tournament. The Fridars will play Hill School (Pa.) in one semifinal while the other semifinal is a showdown between Haverford School (Pa.) and Episcopal (Pa.).

Garden City (N.Y.) will go for a 30th Nassau County title. The Trojans enter the Class B tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season with just one loss.

Holderness (N.H.) was tested, but the Bulls came away with the Lakes Region tournament title, winning by a goal over New Hampton (N.H.). Holderness finished the season unbeaten and its final two games of the season were the only ones decided by fewer than three goals.

Tabor (Mass.) won its first-ever ISL championship. Milton Academy (Mass.) was the only team to beat it all year. Tabor defeated St. Sebastian's (Mass.) for the title win.

La Salle (Pa.) went across state lines for another good win. The Explorers edged a Don Bosco (N.J.) team that had been streaking.

Delbarton (N.J.) was able to rebound from a loss to Chatham (N.J.) to beat Fairfield Prep (Conn.). Delbarton has lost in-state to both Chatham and Seton Hall Prep, but also has huge out-of-state wins over St. Anthony's (N.Y.) and Chaminade (N.Y.).
