N.J. Group Champ Seton Hall Prep Climbs in High School Boys' National Top 25
Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) won its first state championship in 21 years to make the biggest move in the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25.
The Pirates had reached the state championship game in each of the previous two seasons. They finally won it this year when they doubled up defending champion No. 19 Don Bosco in the Non-Public group state title game. Now No. 15 SHP looks to capture the Kirst Cup for the best team in New Jersey across all groups. The Pirates are the top seed.
No. 14 Half Hollow Hills (N.Y.) completed an unbeaten season. It was a familiar formula with plenty of Anthony Raio and James Bruno, big games from Zach Marco and Nick Haugen in a win over West Genesee (N.Y.) to capture the program’s first New York State Class A state championship.
No. 25 Garden City (N.Y.) also wrapped up its season with a state title. The Trojans got monster games from Anthony Asaro, Charlie Koester and Ben Smith to knock off Canandaigua (N.Y.) 14-5 for the New York State Class B title. The win gave them their 10th state title in program history.
The remainder of the latest Top 25 has concluded their seasons.
