Calvert Hall (Md.) won a pair of overtime contests that shaped the National Top 25 as well as the Mid-Atlantic rankings.
They're not the only mover and shaker at the regional level, however. There's a new No. 1 in the West after Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) defeated previous top dog St. Ignatius (Calif.) 14-11.

Mid-Atlantic Top 10
The Mid-Atlantic Region saw a trio of teams cause significant changes. The Cardinals got a big boost to No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Region after their overtime wins. Loyola Blakefield (Md.) further shook up things when it entered the rankings at No. 6 after picking up a three-goal win over a Chaminade (N.Y.) team that had just edged previous No. 3 McDonogh (Md.).
St. Paul’s (Md.) also joined the top 10 after scoring a narrow win over previous No. 6 Bullis (Md.), which holds the final spot. The out-of-conference games have been consistently tight games and produced an unpredictable start to the season.

1. Malvern (Pa.), 3-0
The Friars remained unbeaten by stopping two out-of-state foes, Boys’ Latin (Md.) and Georgetown Prep (Md.). Malvern finished the week with a 10-2 win over Prep. Mike Ortlieb scored twice and assisted on two other goals. Logan Turley, Owen Mears and Danny Lucovich all had two goals apiece, and Will Tantillo, Jack Carroll and Dylan Novak all scooped three ground balls apiece. Heath Jones made seven saves and Tom Ploszay made four saves. Ortlieb and Jake Bickel both had four points and Lucovich scored a hat trick in a 9-6 win over Boys’ Latin (Md.). Matthew Connolly won 8 of 12 faceoffs. Chase Deves, Mears, Tantillo and Novak had three ground balls apiece. 2. Archbishop Spalding (Md.), 4-0
The Cavaliers swept three games this week. They dispatched of Paul VI (Va.) 16-6, then stopped Hill Academy (Ont.) 13-6 and finished the week with a 14-8 win over Western Reserve (Ohio). They’ve outscored teams, 62-22, in the early going. They have another three-game week, hosting Everest Academy (Ont.) and Bullis (Md.) before facing Upper Arlington (Ohio) at Johns Hopkins. 3. Calvert Hall (Md.), 3-0
The Cardinals won a pair of overtime contests. Jackson Mitchell’s second goal of the game gave the Cardinals a 7-6 double overtime win over Lawrenceville (N.J.). Ben Cuomo was instrumental to the win going 13-for-17 at the X, Will Schoonmaker posted a hat trick, Jermaine Anderson caused a pair of turnovers and Brady Stangle made 16 saves. Schoonmaker scored four goals in the second half, including the overtime game-winner for a 15-14 win over Hill Academy (Ont.). They play Sts. Peter and Paul (Md.) and then take on Malvern Prep (Pa.). 4. Lawrenceville (N.J.), 1-1
The Big Red bounced back from a 7-6 double overtime loss to Calvert Hall with a 20-5 drubbing of Good Counsel (Md.). Lawrenceville jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the win. The Big Red try to build a win streak with games against Academy of New Church (Pa.) and Boys’ Latin (Md.) this week. Previous: 2
5. Haverford School (Pa.), 2-0
The Fords picked up an 11-10 overtime win over Landon (Md.) in their only game of the week. Conor Morsell had four goals and three assists, his final assist coming on a feed to Finn French for the game-winner. French scored twice in the game. Colin Decker made 11 saves and Anthony Costa recorded four ground balls. Reece Childs had a goal and two assists. Haverford faces St. Mary’s (Md.) and Delbarton (N.J.) this week. Previous: 5
6. Loyola Blakefield (Md.), 3-1
The Dons picked up their third straight win since a competitive loss to Haverford. They controlled Georgetown Prep (Md.) in a 13-5 win, then earned a 12-9 win over a Chaminade (N.Y.) team that had just knocked off McDonogh (Md.). In the win over Chaminade, Bennett Cook scored five times while Eddie Webb had a goal and four helpers. Cooper Pasko and Liam Finkel each scored two goals apiece while Jesse D’Alonzo made 14 saves. 7. McDonogh (Md.), 1-2
The Eagles continue a challenging schedule after a 1-1 week. Brendan Millon scored with 39 seconds left to bring McDonogh within one, but the Eagles could not come all the way back from a 9-4 deficit in a 10-9 loss to Chaminade (N.Y.). Millon finished with four goals and three assists. Hunter Metz and Bogue Hahn each had hat tricks in a 9-5 win over Gonzaga (D.C.) to start the week. The Eagles face a trio of Florida teams this week – Benjamin (Fla.), Jupiter (Fla.) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.). Previous: 3
8. Boys' Latin (Md.), 3-1
Cooper Reed scored with three seconds left to give the Lakers a 7-6 win at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.). All three of Boys’ Latin’s wins this season have come by a single goal. The Lakers suffered their first loss of the season, 9-6, to Malvern in a game played at USA Lacrosse. Boys’ Latin continues its Florida trip with a game at St. Andrew’s (Fla.) and then plays at Lawrenceville (N.J.). Previous: 8
9. St. Paul’s (Md.), 2-0
The Crusaders remained perfect with their second straight one-goal win. After edging St. John’s College (D.C.) in their season opener, St. Paul’s got by Bullis (Md.), 12-11, in their lone game of the week. Luke Bair had seven points on five goals and two assists while Jack Iannantuono’s seven points came on four goals and three assists. St. Paul’s hosts Western Reserve (Ohio) and faces Penn Charter (Pa.) next. Previous: NR
10. Bullis (Md.), 4-1
The Bulldogs bounced back from a narrow 12-11 loss to St. Paul’s (Md.) with a 10-7 win over Episcopal (Pa.), Jake Zamoiski was brilliant in net in both games, saving 18 shots in the loss and 13 shots in the win. Bullis will host John Carroll (Md.) and play at Archbishop Spalding (Md.). Previous: 6

SOUTH Top 10
The South Region welcomes a newcomer. IMG Academy (Fla.) kicked off its season with four straight wins, including a top-10 win over Highland Park (Texas) and another thriller in overtime to debut at No. 4. Another loss for St. Andrew’s (Fla.) dropped them a couple of spots while St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) showed its strength going toe-to-toe with one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic.

1. Benjamin (Fla.), 11-0
Jayden Vega’s five-goal effort helped lift the Buccaneers to a 16-4 win over Bishop Moore (Fla.) last week to remain unbeaten. Jack Kelleher had a team-leading three assists in the win. Benjamin will meet their toughest challenge of the year facing McDonough (Md.) on March 18. Previous: 1
2. Lake Mary (Fla.), 10-0
The Rams continued their domination of opposition after a 22-3 thrashing of Winter Springs (Fla.) followed by a 9-2 win over Winter Park (Fla.). Lake Mary gets a week off before facing Oviedo (Fla.) on March 26. Previous: 2
3. Episcopal Dallas (Texas), 8-0
The Eagles are continuing their hot start and are coming off an 11-5 win over McCallie School (Tenn.) and a 13-4 win over St. Mark’s (Texas). Episcopal Dallas gets a week off before facing Brophy (Ariz.) on March 23. Previous: 3
4. IMG Academy (Fla.), 4-0
The Ascenders got off to an impressive start to the season, kicking the year off with a 22-3 win over Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) followed by a 9-8 win over the Woodlands (Texas) and a 13-9 victory over Highland Park (Texas). The week concluded with a 14-8 win over Westlake (Texas). Ben Pousak scored the overtime winner against the Woodlands, notching his second straight hat trick. Previous: NR
5. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 10-1
The Raiders gave quite a scare to one of the nation’s most vaunted programs, falling to Boys’ Latin (Md.) 7-6 in STA’s first loss of the year. St. Thomas Aquinas rallied from a 6-3 deficit to tie the game in the final four minutes, but Boys’ Latin scored in the game’s final seconds to close out the win. Previous: 6
6. Highland Park (Texas), 9-2
The Scots had a fantastic start to the week, defeating Episcopal (Va.) 8-4 and St. Andrew’s (Fla.) 11-5. The spring break trip to Florida ended on a sour note with Highland Park falling to IMG Academy (Fla.) 13-9. Previous: 4
7. St. Andrew’s (Fla.), 9-3
The Scots earned their third win in a row by defeating Vero Beach (Fla.) 18-3. The thrill of victory was short-lived as St. Andrew’s fell one day later to Highland Park (Texas) 11-5. Nick Testa had a hat trick against Vero Beach, while Dylan Faison scored four of the Scots’ five goals against Highland Park. Previous: 5
8. Westlake (Texas), 4-2
Before embarking on their spring break trip, the Chaps notched a 22-0 shutout over Westwood (Texas). Westlake then lost to IMG Academy (Fla.) 14-8 to start its trip to Florida. Previous: 7
9. Montgomery Bell (Tenn.), 4-0
The Big Red enjoyed a week off after an unbeaten start to the year. Montgomery Bell returns to play on March 20 to face fellow undefeated squad Nolenville (Tenn.). Junior Cade Sturdivant has a team-leading 18 points. Previous: 8
10. Bolles (Fla.), 9-0
The Bulldogs got to enjoy a week off after a 9-0 first half of the season. The second half of the year gets underway with a March 19 bout against Trinity Catholic (Fla.). Previous: 10

midwest Top 10
The Midwest Region saw just half of its ranked teams in action, and only two of them escaped some cross-region play without a loss. The top two teams, Culver Academy (Ind.) and Western Reserve Academy (Ohio) dropped games to St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) and Archbishop Spalding (Md.) respectively. Both Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.) and Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.) have jumped out to unbeaten starts a little further down in the rankings, and Carmel (Ind.) debuts at No. 9 after a pair of decisive wins to start their season.

1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 4-1
The Eagles are off to their usual strong start, including downing two top Texas teams, Highland Park and Jesuit Dallas, as well as Kiski Academy (Pa.) and St. Xavier (Ky.). Their only loss came to one of the top teams in the country, St. Anthony's (N.Y.), with Johns Hopkins commit Parker Sorenson racking up six ground balls and four caused turnovers in the loss. 2. Western Reserve (Ohio), 3-1
Like the Eagles, the Pioneers' lone loss came against a top-10 team in the country in Archbishop Spalding (Md.). Gentry Curtis has been spectacular for WRA, winning draws at a 73 percent clip and racking up 22 ground balls. Previous: 2
3. Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.), 0-0
Few teams ended the 2024 season on a greater roll than the Shamrocks, as they won their final 10 games, capped by a state championship. DCC returns a number of the players responsible for that incredible finish, including seniors Lachlan Moffatt (70 goals, 53 assists) and Luke Zajdel (64 goals, 37 assists). The Michigan Division I champ Shamrocks face Division II champion Detroit Country Day on March 21 in an enticing season opener. Previous: 3
4. Olentangy Liberty (Ohio), 0-0
The Patriots ended last season with their first state title following a thrilling championship game against St. Xavier. Ohio Player of the Year Jake Struck, an Ohio State commit who had five goals in that title game, and Ben Godwin, who recorded 11 second-half saves against the Bombers, will lead Liberty's quest to repeat. That quest begins March 22 against Archbishop Moeller (Ohio) with longtime Buckeye State power Dublin Jerome looming in early April. Previous: 4
5. St. Xavier (Ohio), 0-0
Can the Bombers send Khalif Hocker out as a state champion? St. Xavier has come awfully close two straight years, falling by two to Dublin Jerome in the 2023 state finals and by one to Olentangy Liberty last spring. It helps knowing you have arguably the best player on the field most nights as Hocker is coming off an incredible junior season in which he tallied 79 goals, 56 assists and 52 ground balls. The Bombers' 2025 season begins with a trip to face one of the Tar Heel State's top teams, Charlotte Catholic, March 22. Previous: 5
6. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 0-0
The Golden Bears were right there among the best of the Buckeye State last year before dropping a close state semifinal to St. Xavier. Despite graduating all-time leading scorer Tommy Janowicz, Upper Arlington returns a deep talent pool, including Jack Caine (Stony Brook), Jake Braun (Georgetown), Noah Gehlert (Ohio State) and Zeke Winkelvoss (Army). The Golden Bears open with Archbishop Spalding (Md.), who already took on another top Midwest squad in WRA. Previous: 6
7. Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.), 3-0
Fresh off their fourth state title in the last six seasons, the Royals are off to a dominant start, doubling up their first three opponents, including a 20-9 win over 2024 Kentucky runner-up South Oldham. Senior Max Kemp and junior Kyle Jenkins scored five goals apiece against the Dragons while junior David Gould (Loyola) had four goals and three assists and Luke Williams (Ohio Northern) saved 15 of 24 shots on goal. 8. Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.), 1-0
The Hawklets shone in their 2025 opener, shutting out Saint Thomas Aquinas (Kan.) behind a combined nine saves from juniors Tom Fimmen and Draden Torline. Seniors John Eckles and Sam Komenda added six points apiece while Rockhurst Jesuit won 15 of 19 faceoffs, including sophomore JP Stegall winning 9 of 11. Previous: 8
9. Carmel (Ind.), 2-0
The Greyhounds opened their season by outscoring a pair of opponents, 25-3. They allowed only a single goal in a 17-1 win over Crown Point (Ind.) and were stingy again in an 8-2 win over Kentucky powerhouse St. Xavier Louisville. Evan Coulter had nine points on four goals and five assists in the win over Crown Point, and Will Bates made 17 saves in the win over St. Xavier. They face three games this week taking on Guerin Catholic (Ind.) and then a pair of Michigan foes, Forest Hills Central and East Grand Rapids. Previous: NR

The Scouts' defense was beyond special last season, allowing less than four goals per game en route to a state title. Lake Forest starts its 2025 schedule with a couple of Chicagoland foes before branching out to face top opponents from Wisconsin (Mukwonago) and Michigan (Brother Rice, Detroit Catholic Central) in early April. West Top 10
Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) continued its rapid climb in the West Region. Maybe they caught St. Ignatius (Calif.) looking ahead to a showdown with Torrey Pines (Calif.), but the Cubs knocked off the previous No. 1 to take over the top spot. De La Salle (Calif.) is riding its own winning streak to a spot in the top 10 for the first time this season, but they face stiff competition ahead. Colorado teams Cherry Creek and Arapahoe try to remain the only unbeatens among the ranked 10.

1. Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.), 10-3
Loyola went 3-1 last week, falling 13-8 to Dallas Jesuit (Texas) first then securing three straight wins. The Cubs stifled conference opponent St. Francis (Calif.) 15-2 before knocking off then-No. 1 St. Ignatius (Calif.) 14-11 and shutting out Crespi (Calif.), another league matchup, 14-0. Up next is a pair of away games at Notre Dame (Calif.) and Chaminade (Calif.). Previous: 4
2. St. Ignatius (Calif.), 3-1
The Wildcats dropped their first game of the season, 14-11, to then-No. 4 Loyola (Calif.) in Los Angeles then bounced back to defeat then-No. 2 Torrey Pines, 15-9. St. Ignatius hosts three games this week, including two top-10 matchups: Legend (Colo.), No. 7 Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) and No. 5 Marin Catholic (Calif.). Previous: 1

Torrey Pines fell, 15-9, to then-No. 1 St. Ignatius in its lone game last week. Next up is a road game to Corona del Mar (Calif.) and No. 8 Cherry Creek (Calif.) at home. Previous: 2
4. Valor Christian (Colo.), 3-1
Valor Christian recorded two straight wins last week, a dominant 20-3 performance over Denver South (Colo.) and a 10-7 victory against Colorado Academy (Colo.). Sophomore JT Cross had a match-high nine goals while also adding three ground balls and an assist. Next, the Eagles take on Park City (Utah) after a bye week. Previous: 3
5. Marin Catholic (Calif.), 5-1
Marin Catholic secured two more conference wins, an 18-3 rout of Terra Linda (Calif) and a 19-0 shutout against Branson (Calif.). The Wildcats have a big week ahead with at least four games. Up first is Legend (Colo.) followed by Marin Academy (Calif.) then No. 6 De La Salle (Calif.) and No. 2 St. Ignatius as part of the Catholic Cup. Previous: 5
6. De La Salle (Calif.), 4-1
De La Salle’s only loss this season was to St. Ignatius (Calif.) and since then the Spartans have been on a three-game winning streak. Last week De La Salle routed Justin-Siena (Calif.) and No. 7 Sacred Heart (Calif.). Kellen Dunn led the charge against the Gators, netting four goals while adding two assists. 7. Sacred Heart (Calif.), 3-1
The Gators split last week, defeating conference opponent Junipero Serra (Calif.) 17-4 before falling 12-6 to De La Salle (Calif.). Next up Sacred Heart takes on No. 1 St. Ignatius (Calif.) in its second regular season league game. Previous: 7
8. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 2-0
Cherry Creek added another win, defeating Poudre (Colo.) 13-8. Goalkeeper Owen Corsi (High Point) recorded 13 saves with six goals against and is currently 2-0 overall with a 72 percent save percentage. Up next is a slate of out-of-state matchups against La Costa Canyon (Calif.), No. 3 Torrey Pines (Calif.) and No. 3 in the South Region Episcopal Dallas (Texas). Previous: 8
9. Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) 5-1
Cathedral Catholic defeated Bishop’s 2-1 for its fifth win this season. The Dons next will host a pair of games against Regis Jesuit (Colo.) and Santa Margarita (Calif.). Previous: 9
10. Arapahoe (Colo.), 3-0
The Warriors won two straight games last week, defeating Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 6-5, and Poudre School District (Colo.), 9-7. Against Regis Jesuit, junior goalkeeper Nicholas Pangborn made 13 saves on 18 shots. Next Arapahoe takes on Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.). Previous: 10
