Five Unbeatens in USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25

For the second year in a row, Manchester Valley (Md.) won the Class 2A state championship in Maryland. And for the second time in a row, it capped an unbeaten season as the Mavericks ran their win streak to 38 to fortify their spot in the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration. 

Penn Charter (Pa.) added a state championship to its league crown. The Quakers have an impressive 24-game win streak of their own.

Several others are looking to remain unbeaten to end their years. Maryvale (Md.) and Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) were ahead of Manchester Valley on finishing perfectly. Darien (Conn.) and Sayville (N.Y.) are the other two ranked teams still unblemished on the year. Both are into their playoffs, with Darien advancing to the FCIAC semifinals. Sayville plays today in their section's semifinals.

Conestoga (Pa.) has a chance to avenge its only loss of the season in the Pennsylvania District 1 AAA final. The Pioneers take on West Chester Henderson (Pa.), which defeated powerhouse Springfield-Delco (Pa.) to make the championship game. 

Championship finishes for teams like Nobles & Greenough (Mass.) and St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (Va.) earned them a slight bump up in this week's rankings.

The bottom fifth of the national rankings are mostly active programs that are facing their biggest games of the year. While Sacred Heart Prep has wrapped up its season, the others are deep into the postseason.

Garden City (N.Y.) won its Nassau Class B semifinal game. So did Manhasset (N.Y.). Both teams have just two losses apiece and they'll meet in the county final May 27, with Manhasset looking to avenge its loss in the regular season.

West Islip (N.Y.) is the top seed in the Suffolk Class B bracket. The Lions host Westhampton Beach (N.Y.) on May 28 and the finals are scheduled for May 31. 

Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) defeated Cardinal O'Hara (Pa.) 20-4 for its 25th straight Philadelphia Catholic League championship. The state tournament is next.

Today's biggest matchup has Northport (N.Y.) hosting Huntington (N.Y.) in the Suffolk Class A semifinals. The final is May 31 and could be against top-seeded Ward Melville (N.Y.). Northport is one of only two teams to beat Ward Melville this year. Northport has not faced the Patriots yet.
