Massachusetts wasn’t just the host for some great college lacrosse action over the weekend. It also is home to a pair of newcomers — Phillips Andover (Mass.) and Noble & Greenough (Mass.) — in the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25.

Phillips Andover was the one celebrating the Prep Cup championship this year. The Big Blue upended two-time defending champion No. 11 Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.) in the final after a semifinal win earlier that day. They debut at No. 10 nationally.

Noble & Greenough lost its first two games of the season to sow some doubt but suffered just one defeat the rest of the way, knocking off such teams at Phillips Andover in the process, and finished the season atop the ISL with its fourth straight league title to join the Top 25 at No. 17.

Manchester Valley (Md.) moved up to No. 4 after finishing one of the most impressive seasons in Maryland public school history. The Mavericks' second Class 2A state title came over a young Glenelg High (Md.) team that will be a favorite next year. The 17-9 win capped a season in which they outscored opponents 355-63. The state championship win was their first game decided by fewer than nine goals.

No. 9 Agnes Irwin (Pa.) also won a state championship to cap a terrific season. No. 6 Nyack (N.Y.) will be trying to join Manchester Valley and Coronado (Calif.) as unbeaten champions as the New York tournaments heat up.
