National Celebrate Lacrosse Week Opens this Weekend

By USA Lacrosse Staff

The fourth annual National Celebrate Lacrosse Week opens with a series of USA Lacrosse Pick Up & Play clinics this weekend. These free clinics are designed as a first-time introduction to the sport for youth players and USA Lacrosse works with programs around the country to help create pathways to play coming out of the clinics.

A total of 87 Pick Up & Play clinics, led by 67 organizations and spread across 27 states will be offered during this year’s National Celebrate Lacrosse Week.

Pick Up & Play clinics allow athletes ages 6-14 to familiarize themselves with the sport in a fun, pressure-free environment. USA Lacrosse provides all necessary equipment, which in this setting amounts to sticks and soft lacrosse or tennis balls.

Last year’s Pick Up & Play clinics during National Celebrate Lacrosse Week featured 3,074 participants – an increase of 11 percent from 2022. In a post-event survey, 99 percent of parents said their child was excited about lacrosse after attending a clinic.
