SPARKS, Md. — The USA Lacrosse Board of Directors, a group that helps set policy, strategy and financial oversight for the nonprofit governing body, has recently welcomed four new members. Rick Burton, Andrea Chen Lin, Juan-Pablo Mas and Shawn Nadelen each have started two-year terms as volunteers with the organization.
“I am thrilled to welcome our new board member to an already high-performing group of leaders,” said USA Lacrosse CEO Marc Riccio. “We have a strong, diverse group of subject-matter experts in lacrosse and business. They continue to make us better.”
Burton has worked with USA Lacrosse for a number of years, including helping to launch the Sankofa Clinic Series with former USA Lacrosse board member Chazz Woodson. Burton has also served as a Coach Development Program trainer. A United States Air Force veteran, Burton played lacrosse on the collegiate level at Wesley College and has taken his stick with him around the world. He is currently the head boys’ lacrosse coach at Edgewood (Md.) High School.
Lin has served as a strategic advisor to C-level executives in venture-funded startups and industry-leading corporations such as Salesforce, WW (Weight Watchers), 24 Hour Fitness, eBay, Blue Bunny, Lockheed Martin, and Allergan. She is a graduate of Penn with an MBA from Harvard. Since 2016, she has served as a girls’ lacrosse coach and board member with the Diablo Scorpion Lacrosse Club in California.
Mas is a former men’s lacrosse player at the University of Massachusetts. He is a partner at Action Potential Venture Capital (APVC) in Santa Cruz, Calif. He represents APVC on the boards of Cala Health, Exo Imaging, Neuspera Medical, Presidio Medical, Saluda Medical, SetPoint Medical, Onc.ai and previously CVRx (NASDAQ: CVRX). After graduating from UMass, he earned an MBA and M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford.
Nadelen is a past U.S. men’s national team member who is currently the head men’s lacrosse coach at Towson University. A four-year starter at Johns Hopkins, Nadelen played professionally in the MLL (winning two league championships) and the NLL. He made a return from a knee injury to help the U.S. men’s team win the 2010 world championship in Manchester, England. The New York native has served as Towson’s head coach since 2012, helping the Tigers reach the NCAA semifinals in 2017.
