USA Lacrosse Announces New AED Partnership with Stryker

By USA Lacrosse Press Release

USA Lacrosse, the governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse in the United States, has entered a new three-year partnership with Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, to serve as the Official AED provider of USA Lacrosse and the U.S. National Teams.

As part of this partnership, USA Lacrosse members will receive discounted pricing on Stryker’s AEDs (automated external defibrillators), which include the LIFEPAK CR2 and HeartSine devices.

USA Lacrosse believes that AEDs help save lives in the community and on the field. These portable, easy-to-use devices deliver potentially life-saving defibrillation therapy to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

“Having an AED at every location where lacrosse practices and games occur should be a part of a comprehensive emergency action plan,” said Jason Vescovi, PhD, director of USA Lacrosse’s Center for Sports Science.  “It will drastically reduce the time between sudden cardiac arrest and defibrillation, which is a critical window that directly impacts survival. The potential life-saving benefit of having an AED at the field applies not only to the athletes but to everyone attending an event.”

As part of the partnership, Stryker offers USA Lacrosse members diverse options and deep expertise to help choose the right device for their needs. The goal is to have an automated external defibrillator on every lacrosse field in America.

“USA Lacrosse is committed to creating a safe sports culture and seeks to be proactive in preparing coaches and program leaders for emergency situations,” said Tom Pope, director of corporate partnership sales for USA Lacrosse. “The risk of commotio cordis in our sport drives our desire to provide awareness, information, and equipment to our members and to the national lacrosse community. Partnering with a world-leader like Stryker helps us to create a safer lacrosse environment by providing enhanced value and significant AED discounts to our members.”
