Archbishop Spalding (Md.) on Rise in USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25

No new teams entered this week’s USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25, but one team made a huge jump that’s worth talking about.

No team has had more ups and downs than Archbishop Spalding (Md.). Plagued by injuries this season and still missing a couple of their top players, the Cavaliers dismantled IAAM favorite McDonogh (Md.) 13-3, a result that has them back in the top 10 at No. 8 in this week's rankings.

Spalding started the season defeating defending IAAM champion St. Paul’s (Md.) and also beat another major contender, Maryvale (Md.), in the middle of the season. The Cavaliers lost four of five games during a rough midseason stretch but appear to be reaching their stride at the right time.

Elsewhere, Garden City (N.Y.) is up to No. 21, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) finally had its winning streak ended by Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) to drop to No. 17, Darien (Conn.) was able to move to No. 3 after McDonogh’s loss and Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) solidified its No. 11 spot with a win over Sayville (N.Y.).

St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), Episcopal (Pa.) Manchester Valley (Md.), Nyack (N.Y.) and Coronado (Calif.) all notably and impressively remin unbeaten.
