Maryvale Repeats as IAAM Champion, Cements No. 1 Spot in National Top 25
Maryvale (Md.) went wire-to-wire in the IAAM A Conference to claim its second straight championship and seal its spot atop the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration.
The Lions were unstoppable this season. They finished with a 300-99 goal differential for the season. Their win streak stands at 21 after defeating McDonogh (Md.) in the title game at USA Lacrosse.
Darien (Conn.) also stayed perfect with a three-win week, including an impressive win over Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.) and a one-goal win over Nyack (N.Y.). No. 3 St. Anthony's (N.Y.) looks to keep pace on its way to a conference crown.
New to the rankings is Lake Highland Prep (Fla.). The Highlanders did it again. They squeaked by American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) in their championship meeting by a 6-5 score for the second straight year. Lake Highland avenged one of its two losses — St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (Va.) beat the Highlanders by a goal — and they've regularly competed well against the best teams at Indoor Nationals.
Also notable:
— Penn Charter (Pa.) has won 20 straight games and has the top seed for the upcoming PAISAA state championship. The top four seeds are all Inter-Ac schools. Episcopal (Pa.) is the second seed, Academy of Notre Dame (Pa.) is No. 3 and Agnes Irwin (Pa.) is No. 4.
— Noble & Greenough (Mass.) is the top seed for the ISL tournament that begins Wednesday. It will host Brooks School (Mass.) in the first round. The final is slated for Sunday at the higher seed's home.
— Conestoga (Pa.) is the top seed for the district tournament that also opens today. The Pioneers have a first-round bye and host the winner of Great Valley (Pa.) vs. Methacton (Pa.) on May 14.
— Manchester Valley (Md.) tries to remain unbeaten as it heads into the 2A state tournament. The Mavericks are the defending champions. They have not lost a game since May 18, 2024.
— St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (Va.) captured its league title by avenging their lone loss of the season to Stone Ridge (Md.). Kathy Jenkins' team finished with 22 wins, most among currently ranked teams.
— West Islip (N.Y.) needed overtime, but notched a 13-12 win at Mount Sinai (N.Y.).
— Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) defeated Springfield-Delco (Pa.) going into the district playoffs.
— Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) looks to stay perfect when the CIF Central Coast Division I tournament gets underway today. The top seeded Gators host Burlingame (Calif.).
