University of MarylandInducted as a truly great player, Sommar Jenney won four national championships at the University of Maryland (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000) while earning All-America honors three times as a midfielder. She earned All-ACC honors twice (1999 & 2000) and NCAA All-Tournament honors three times (1998, 1999, 2000). Sommar Jenney was also selected to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.
A true two-way middie, Jenney was part of a Maryland dynasty that claimed seven straight NCAA titles from 1995 through 2001 and finished her career with 104 goals and 72 assists. She did much of her best work on the defensive side and in transition.
On the international level, Sommar Jenney played on both the 2001 and 2005 U.S. Women’s World Cup teams, winning gold in 2001 and silver in 2005.
