Schooley began her lacrosse career at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) as a cover point from 1964-68. She played club lacrosse from 1968-78 for North Jersey, West Jersey and Central District, and participated in National Tournament play from 1965-78.

Schooley served as a health and physical education teacher and coach at Cherry Hill High School East from 1971-2002, and amassed over 300 wins in 30 years as the lacrosse head coach. She was also the national squad coach for the USWLA from 1980-1987, and served as a national level umpire from 1962-82.

Schooley held offices in all areas of lacrosse, including founder and president of the Women's Club of South Jersey and the West Jersey Lacrosse Association, USWLA first and second vice-president, chairperson, editor, director and clinician. She was inducted to the Rowan University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987, the NJSIAA Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993, the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Camden County Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. 

Sue Schooley passed away in June, 2023 at the age of 80.
