The first game of his youth football season is just around the corner, but Blake Travelstead, 11, is looking forward to playing lacrosse this weekend. 

Travelstead and many of his Maryland-based Crabs Lacrosse club teammates are participating in the Shootout for Soldiers, a two-day event that serves mainly as a fund-raiser benefiting American veterans.

This weekend’s Baltimore Shootout on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse headquarters begins at 6 p.m. Friday and concludes on Saturday evening.

“I love the cause, and the jerseys are pretty cool too,” Travelstead said.

World Lacrosse today announced updated dates for its 2024 Box Championships. The world championships for men’s and women’s box lacrosse will now be held September 20-29, 2024, in Utica, New York, United States.

Originally scheduled to take place September 13-22, the championship dates were adjusted to better align with the global lacrosse calendar.

The 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships will mark the sixth championship for men and first for women in the discipline of box lacrosse, marking a historic first for men’s and women’s world titles to be decided at the same event.

Wheelchair Lacrosse USA (WLUSA), the governing body of wheelchair lacrosse in the United States, hosted its annual national championship last week, with 10 participating teams from across the country helping to make the 2023 event the biggest one in the organization’s history.

The Milwaukee Eagles (Division A) and Houston Apollos (Division B) claimed championships following the three-day tournament that concluded Sunday at Buffalo RiverWorks, an events and entertainment center located on the banks of the Buffalo (N.Y.) River.

SPARKS, Md. —Registration for the inaugural USA Lacrosse Academy, a professional development opportunity for coaches and officials, is now open. The first USA Lacrosse Academy is set for Oct. 7-8 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis and a second event is being planned for Philadelphia (Jan. 13-14, 2024).

The Indy event will include multiple sessions for men’s game and women’s game coaches and a one-day “Train the Trainers” track in officiating.

The annual schedule — focused on engagement, entertainment and education — is anchored by four key events spread throughout the year, including the addition of an exciting new showcase event in the fall featuring the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams.

SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse headquarters will be home to some of the sport’s best lacrosse players on the weekend of Oct. 13-15 for the 2023 USA Lacrosse Fall Classic.

The three-day event features the U.S. and Canadian men’s senior teams and women’s U20 teams, reigning NCAA women’s champion Northwestern, NCAA men’s semifinalist Penn State, the USA Select U16 and U18 boys’ and girls’ teams and high school-aged teams from the Haudenosaunee Nation and Ontario.

SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse is excited to announce the first wave of boys’ club lacrosse tournaments that will use its age verification services during the 2023-24 season.

Earlier this year, the National Lacrosse Federation (NLF), an organization comprised of the top boys’ club lacrosse programs in the country, and USA Lacrosse entered into a transformational partnership to bring age verification to the boys’ club lacrosse landscape. The goal is to improve the integrity of competition, the quality of experience for all participants and player safety.

They’re back.

The best women’s lacrosse players in the world are coming back to USA Lacrosse for the third season of Athletes Unlimited women’s professional lacrosse. The entire season will be played at the USA Lacrosse complex for the second year in a row. The four-week season begins on Thursday, July 20 and runs through Sunday, August 13

FREDERICA, Del. — Hero’s Lacrosse Club brought home two of the three championships on the final day of the 2023 USA Lacrosse Youth Nationals at the DE Turf Sports Complex.

The 82-team field played a total of 175 games over two days and Hero’s brought home the titles in the 13U and 14U age brackets while the Yellow Jackets won the 15U age division.
