USA Lacrosse and the Tewaaraton Foundation
For more than a decade, USA Lacrosse has partnered with the Tewaaraton Foundation to support Native American youth. USA Lacrosse is committed to supporting the growth of youth development participation within Native communities and launched new programming in 2023 designed to further those goals.
Partnering with the 4 the Future Foundation, USA Lacrosse funded a lacrosse program in Cherokee, N.C., that has resulted in 100 percent school attendance in addition to a growing love for lacrosse since the Thompson brothers introduced the sport. The two organizations are now pursuing opportunities in Native communities in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Additionally, USA Lacrosse Sport Growth grants have helped fund programs in Northwest Montana, South Dakota and the Pacific Northwest to grow the game on and off the reservations in these Native communities. We are continuing to expand similar efforts with USA Lacrosse Sport Growth and DEI initiative-funded projects around the country.
