SPARKS, Md. – Tim McCormack, the head women’s lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins University and an assistant coach for the 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 National Team that won a gold medal in Hong Kong, has been named as a technical advisor for the U.S. Sixes National Teams.
USA Lacrosse is expanding support to its sixes national team program by adding a total of three new technical advisors. McCormack is the first of the three to be named and will work with both the men’s and women’s programs as USA Lacrosse gears up for the 2028 LA Olympics, which will feature the sixes discipline.
"Adding Tim McCormack as a technical advisor is a real asset for our sixes national teams,” said Jason Vescovi, VP of High Performance for USA Lacrosse. “His unique experience will help us stay ahead and develop a competitive advantage as the format evolves internationally. I'm confident that our coaches and athletes will benefit immediately from the expertise he will bring to both teams."

McCormack led the Johns Hopkins women’s program to a school-record 17 wins and the NCAA semifinals last season, the first time the school had reached championship weekend at the Division I level. In his first four seasons at JHU, McCormack has led the Blue Jays to a 51-29 record and four consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament.
Prior to coming to Johns Hopkins, McCormack was the head coach at Arizona State for three seasons, twice earning Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors. McCormack also served as an assistant coach at Northwestern for six season, helping the Wildcats win 81 games, make six NCAA tournament appearances with two trips to the semifinals and capture the 2019 Big Ten championship.
A 2012 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, McCormack was a three-year starter in goal, and two-time captain, for the Minutemen. As a senior, he led UMass to a 15-1 record and the number one national ranking for the first time in program history. McCormack posted an impressive 7.09 goals against average and a .606 save percentage en route to All-CAA and USILA All-America honors.
