Six years ago, Able Lacrosse launched with a simple goal. Brothers Rowan and Christian Dias wanted to share their passion for lacrosse with their younger sister, Elle, and with other children like her who had developmental differences.
“Honestly, we were just hopeful that we would be able to have a once per week opportunity for Elle and her friends to get together and play lacrosse,” said Vanessa Dias, mother to the three siblings.
Last week, USA Lacrosse announced its annual high school player awards, including the Jackie Pitts Award that recognizes senior players who go above and beyond in service to their team, school, and community. These athletes truly honor the game of lacrosse by investing in the development of the game, by serving as exemplary teammates, and by being role models within their school community.
USA Lacrosse today announced the high school girls’ coaches from each geographic area selected as winners of the 2025 Coach of the Year Awards. The award honors a girls’ lacrosse head coach in each area who exemplifies the ideals of the game of lacrosse.
The award is intended to recognize the individual’s overall coaching performance and contribution, not just coaching wins - although they may be considered. Nominees must demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field, and also demonstrate excellent rapport with their players, officials, and other coaches.
