Ages 7–10 : Train - Age Appropriate Skills & Techniques

Focus:
- Build strong lacrosse fundamentals plus agility, speed, and coordination
- Teach teamwork, strategy, and confidence in small sided game play
Training Environment:
- Positive, inclusive, and engaging
- Appeals to fun, improvement, and teamwork
- Growth mindset: always try your best and never be afraid to make mistakes
Player Development:
- Athletic: Advanced footwork, balance, speed, strength, flexibility
- Lacrosse Skills: Focus on next level of passing, shooting, cradling, and dodging skills; behind the back passes and stick fakes, individual and team defensive strategies and techniques
- Tactics: Confident with 1v1 and 2v2 concepts; learning 3v3, 4v4 concepts, and transition play philosophy
- Social/Emotional: Independence, teamwork, fairness, helping others and learning that competition is fun
- Cognitive: Anticipation of next move on the field, recall memory to learn from mistakes and success, can handle more complex instructions, building game awareness instincts
Training Structure:
- Coach: player ratio - 12:1.
- Sessions: 60 min, up to 3 times per week, 8–12 weeks
- Training mix: 70% skills, 30% competition. Skill work is also always embedded into competition
- Encourage multi-sport participation and scheduled breaks from organized sports during the year
