How This Person Impacts the Local Growth of the Game:
A former collegiate player at Eastern Connecticut State University, Rossi founded the Berlin Youth Lacrosse program when he started teaching at the local middle school in 2005. He grew the program from a team of 6th grade boys to what it is today – a program for boys and girls, K-8. As a teacher and coach, he is committed to the continued growth of sport by answering new player questions and helping to recruit new athletes.
Community Involvement:
Rossi worked with the local board of education to budget for high school lacrosse and was successful in initially getting a girls’ team established at Berlin High School. He then worked with the board of education to budget for a boys’ team and also succeeded in getting the boys’ high school team established. Rossi has been at the helm of the Berlin boys' varsity program since its inaugural season in 2012.
Most Significant Contributions to Lacrosse:
The creation of the youth program was instrumental in providing an intro into the sport for local youth. Through the years, Rossi has integrated his high school players with the youth program to provide additional support. Along the way, he has recorded over 100 wins as coach at Berlin High School.
