SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse is proud to work with Nation United Foundation (NUF), Black Lacrosse Alliance and other stakeholders in the lacrosse community in supporting the WE STAND initiative, an effort aimed at promoting anti-harassment and anti-racism in sports.

US Lacrosse is now accepting nominations for two LGBTQ+ Inclusion Scholarships aimed at providing financial support to student-athletes who demonstrate positive sensitivity to and involvement in LGBTQ+ issues. 

The scholarship application is open to self-identified LGBTQ+ individuals who are graduating high school seniors from the class of 2021. Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2021, with winners notified by June 1.

US Lacrosse condemns the behavior and vulgar comments directed towards the members of the Emmanuel College men’s lacrosse team by spectators during its game at the University of the South (Sewanee) last weekend. Playing a sport you love should not result in having to endure harassment. We stand in support of the players from Emmanuel College, and are committed to doing our part to ensure that everyone feels welcomed and embraced in our sport.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) announced today that it is revising its previous guidance that classified sports by ‘potential infection risk” for COVID-19. After further examination of the issue by its Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (SMAC), the NFHS has eliminated its tiered “Potential Infection Risk by Sport” that classified sports as HIGH, MODERATE, or LOW risk for COVID transmission.

SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse has announced updates to its box rules and points of emphasis for 2019. The points of emphasis for 2019 relate to abuse of officials, illegal body checking and boarding, helmets and penalties.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — World Lacrosse announced Wednesday the creation and seating of the Women’s Indoor/Box Lacrosse Working Group. The purpose of the Working Group is to investigate and develop a pathway for the development of Women’s Indoor/Box Lacrosse around the world at both the junior (U19/20) and senior levels in order to provide an opportunity for women to compete in the discipline and bring gender equality to WL events.

As the winter months approach and colder weather overtakes much of the country, US Lacrosse acknowledges that organized indoor lacrosse activities will become more prevalent, and that these activities will include formal Box Lacrosse tournaments and events. 

In light of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as US Lacrosse’s growing commitment to box lacrosse, the national governing body offers these recommendations in support of risk mitigation.

Wherever possible, it’s preferable to have event operators host Box Lacrosse events in an outdoor setting.
