US Lacrosse condemns the behavior and vulgar comments directed towards the members of the Emmanuel College men’s lacrosse team by spectators during its game at the University of the South (Sewanee) last weekend. Playing a sport you love should not result in having to endure harassment. We stand in support of the players from Emmanuel College, and are committed to doing our part to ensure that everyone feels welcomed and embraced in our sport.
As US Lacrosse’s regional manager in the Midwest for the past four years, Bryce Woodson has met and befriended many of the faces of lacrosse in that part of the country.
He has been instrumental in providing resources and support to the countless program leaders, coaches, and volunteers who are doing the work to bring lacrosse to the next generation of players.
Tim Heckman (TH) and Alex Coombs (AC) serve as co-founders and co-directors of the newly-formed Harlem Jets Lacrosse Program, launched to introduce lacrosse to boys and girls in Harlem and surrounding neighborhoods in New York City through fundamental and skill-based training.
Last fall, USA Lacrosse announced the creation of a new Native American Advisory Council (NAAC) to help provide the national governing body with guidance on and a deeper understanding of issues related to Native communities. The formation of the NAAC is part of USA Lacrosse’s ongoing efforts to support greater diversity and inclusion in lacrosse.
