When you were in school, was there something you remember a coach or teacher saying to you that's stuck with you for decades? Is it a positive or negative memory? Likely, that coach doesn't remember telling you that you were too lazy to be a good defender, but to you, that was a pivotal moment in your athletic career. The power of the words we choose is immense, but it’s often overlooked by a busy coach who's just trying to get through practice. But the language a team uses can shift the likelihood of achieving goals.

USA Lacrosse and head coach Seth Tierney have named the staff for the U.S. Men’s Field National Team that will represent the United States in the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Japan. Bobby Benson, Charley Toomey and Kevin Warne will serve as assistant coaches while Patrick Watson will serve as the team operations administrator and Mike Kettell will serve as the equipment manager.

SPARKS, Md. — Registration is now open for a new USA Lacrosse Regional Academy in Connecticut, January 18-19, 2025, offering professional development opportunities for coaches at all levels of the game.

The USA Lacrosse Academy in Connecticut will be held at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield and is open to both USA Lacrosse members and non-members.

USA Lacrosse, a Recognized Sports Organization by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the U.S. representative to the sport’s international federation (World Lacrosse), is leading the effort to establish a Lacrosse Equipment Council (LEC). The LEC will provide a more formalized structure for stakeholders to discuss equipment needs and establish a framework for objective review of all equipment.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) made this statement in support of the LEC.

Boundary-setting is a tough topic for coaches, many of whom wear a lot of hats. However, learning how to set boundaries is critical to a coach’s personal well-being and their management of a team. Coaches also have the opportunity to lead by example, setting boundaries that reflect their goals and priorities for the team, as well as boundaries that protect their own mental and physical health.

The 2025 USA Lacrosse Youth Nationals, a premier tournament for the nation’s top girls’ club lacrosse teams, will be held at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Bel Air, Md., from July 15-16, 2025. Top of the Bay Sports and USA Lacrosse will work in conjunction to administer this year’s tournament. It's the fifth straight year that Top of the Bay has been involved with the event.

USA Lacrosse will host a series of live rules interpretation webinars over the next few months to help coaches and officials prepare for the 2024-25 season.

The rules interpretation webinars are broken into four categories, covering boys’ and girls’ youth and high school rules. Each session for the specific topic will use the same base information, but will also include a USA Lacrosse staff member and a rules interpreter on the webinar live to help answer any questions.
