World Lacrosse has announced that Tokyo will be the host city for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship. Japan was earlier announced as the host country, but additional details have been finalized and the event will be held from July 24 through August 2 in Tokyo.
This will be the first world lacrosse championship hosted by Japan since 1997 when the U.S. women edged Australia to bring home the World Cup in the Edogawa ward of Tokyo.
SPARKS, Md. – Registration for the USA Lacrosse Regional ID Clinics, the first phase of the National Team Development Program leading to U.S. Youth National Teams, is now open. There are currently 10 sites confirmed for girls and nine sites for boys for Regional ID Clinics at the U17 and U19 age groupings and three sites for the new U15 age group. Virtual applications are also accepted for all age groups and additional site locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
Katie O’Donnell always knew her 2025 lacrosse season was going to start in New England. It’s just going to happen a little sooner than expected.
O’Donnell, the head women’s lacrosse coach at Drexel, will take her Dragons’ squad to Storrs, Conn., to play at Connecticut on Feb. 8. But first, she’s got some personal business to take care of.
The U.S. Women’s Field National Team will hold a training camp in Chestnut Hill, Mass., from Jan. 7-9, 2025 and head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein has invited 36 players to the camp. This will be the second camp led by Walker-Weinstein, who was named the program’s head coach earlier this year.
The U.S. team will hold one more training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., ahead of the Pan American Lacrosse Association Women’s Continental Qualifier, which will be held in Auburndale, Fla., in June 2025.
National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member Dave Urick, who won 10 national championships as head coach at Hobart and built Georgetown into a national power, died on Tuesday.
After helping Hobart to three national championships as an assistant coach in the 1970s, Urick was co-head coach of the Statesmen in 1979 and took over as head coach in 1980. He led the Statesmen to the inaugural NCAA Division III championship in 1980 and proceeded to win 10 straight championships before leaving in 1990 to take over as the head coach at Georgetown.
SPARKS, Md. – The USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program (NTDP) is set to expand in 2025 with a U15 age bracket included in the program.
Launched in 2019, the NTDP has been a big success in opening up the pipeline for the U.S. National Team Program. Each year, approximately 1,500 high school-aged players participate in the various stages of the program, culminating with USA Youth National teams competing against international competition.

Both events will take place in Baltimore on Jan. 11, 2025 with the alumni reception event at the Waterfront Hotel in Fells Point and the Hall of Fame reception at The Choptank in Fells Point.

USA Lacrosse and head coach Seth Tierney have named the staff for the U.S. Men’s Field National Team that will represent the United States in the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Japan. Bobby Benson, Charley Toomey and Kevin Warne will serve as assistant coaches while Patrick Watson will serve as the team operations administrator and Mike Kettell will serve as the equipment manager.
SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse has named the 44 players that will compete with the U.S. Women’s Senior National Team during the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Presidents Cup from Nov. 22-24 in Florida.
This will be the first training camp and competition for the U.S. women’s team since Acacia Walker-Weinstein was named the program’s head coach earlier this year. The U.S. team is building towards the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship that will be held in Japan.

The 2024 inductees are: Carol Cantele, John Grant Jr., Kristen Kjellman Marshall, Brodie Merrill, Patti Klecha-Porter, Paul Rabil, Betsy Meng Ramsey, and Vin LoBello (posthumous).
