USA Lacrosse and the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) have announced seven training dates for the 2026 College Player Officials Academy (CPOA), a joint venture between the two organizations designed to recruit and train current and recent college lacrosse players to become the next generation of women’s game officials.

Coinciding with select summer tournaments, the CPOA events provide candidates with hands-on officials' training and live game action to supplement classroom instruction.

Months of preparation – tryouts, training camps, off-the-field work – have led to this moment, the U.S. Men’s U20 National Team heading to South Korea to begin the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship.

Episode five of Behind the Shield, a seven-part documentary on the U.S. Men’s 20 team, opens with a staging camp in San Diego before the team heads to Jeju Island – the land of waterfalls.

Officials are athletes. Like others on the lacrosse field, they must stop, start, change direction, and move in quick bursts. And like other athletes, officials can maximize their time on the field (less injuries) by training properly, including preparation before the season.

Six important areas of focus for season preparation are:

Fueled by impressive early season victories, Florida Club has jumped to the top spot in the first WCLA Division I Top 20 ranking of the 2026 regular season.

Ranked eighth in the preseason, the Gators vaulted to No. 1 after a 3-0 showing in the Big Dawgs Classic, highlighted by wins over No. 3 Michigan Club and No. 6 Clemson Club. UF will put its No. 1 ranking to the test with three games in Arizona this week, including a meeting with No. 20 Utah.

Tryouts are over and the final 22 players are onsite at Cornell University for a training camp in Episode Three of Behind the Shield, a seven-part docuseries on the U.S. Men’s U20 National Team’s journey to South Korea for the world championship.

Connor Buczek, an assistant coach for the U.S. men’s team who led Cornell to the national championship just a few weeks before as the Big Red’s head coach, is thrilled to have the players on his own campus. And it also brings back memories from when he helped the U.S. U19 team win the gold medal in Finland as a player.

Lacrosse is known as the Medicine Game, gifted by the Creator with the power of healing.

That positive energy was focused last week on The Lacrosse Barn in Addison, Texas, located on the north side of the Dallas Metroplex. Over 200 girls gathered for the Sister Sister Community Clinic, introducing and teaching lacrosse to new and novice players.

While seeking to grow the game, the clinic also had a larger purpose – to provide emotional healing to a grieving community.

SPARKS, Md. – National Lacrosse Hall of Famers Dave Pietramala and Chris Sailer will be honored at the 5th annual USA Lacrosse Foundation Gala on June 4, 2026 in New York City. The event will be held at Gotham Hall.

Launched in 2022, the USA Lacrosse Foundation Gala was created to honor the influential roles of players, coaches, fans and supporters in shaping the sport’s future – while also raising critical funds to advance initiatives that drive lacrosse’s continued growth.

USA Lacrosse’s Tierney Field, home of the U.S. Men’s & Women’s National Teams, will feature a busy line-up of games for the 2026 spring season, highlighted by high school rivalry games, league championship contests, and Top 20 college matchups.

The current schedule includes over 50 high school and college games from February through May, with additional games still being added.
