BEL AIR, Md. — Unseasonably cool temperatures, morning rain, cloudy skies and afternoon wind didn't damper the enthusiasm on the opening day of the USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament.

A tradition that dates to 1933, the event has historically brought the best of the women’s game together and though things were different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the spirit remains strong.

One of the sport’s oldest traditions gets renewed this weekend with the return of the USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament. The event, which dates to 1933, was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – World Lacrosse is today introducing the name, brand identity and first phase of technical resources for the new 6 v 6 discipline that has been developed through a comprehensive consultation, trial and refinement process involving players, coaches, officials and leaders of lacrosse around the world. The new discipline of lacrosse will be formally known as World Lacrosse Sixes. On a more conversational or familiar basis, the new discipline will be referred to as Sixes.

USA Lacrosse has entered into a multi-year partnership with Stack Sports, a leader in youth sports services and technology. Stack Sports supports the volunteers, administrators and organizations that make sports possible with products and services to engage and grow athletes, goals also core to the USA Lacrosse mission.

The name has changed. The logo has changed. But the mission to provide national leadership, structure and resources to fuel the sport’s growth and enrich the experience of participants remains the same.

SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse is proud to partner with One Bowl Productions, the Iroquois Nationals, Thompson Brothers Lacrosse, and 4 the Future Foundation on a free streaming experience of the award-winning documentary “Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation.”

The celebrated feature length documentary was produced in 2017 and called by Inside Lacrosse as “the most ambitious, broad-sweeping and beautifully shot lacrosse film to date.”
