USA Lacrosse
Joe Finn, a long time archivist for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame & Museum at USA Lacrosse, was recently featured on an episode of The Maryland Curiosity Project, a show hosted by NPR’s WYPR affiliate.
Finn was a guest on a show titled, “Why is Lacrosse Such a Big Deal in Maryland.” Show host Aaron Henkin visited with Finn at USA Lacrosse headquarters.
When I graduated from college, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. After years of pursuing a journalism degree and chasing my sports columnist father’s footsteps, I spent my senior year like many others thinking — What’s next?
Dear Lacrosse Community,
On January 11, 2023, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) officially welcomed USA Lacrosse as a Recognized Sport Organization (RSO) in the Affiliates Organization Council (AOC).
So, what do these acronyms mean and how does it affect the sport of lacrosse?
First and foremost, this is a big deal I am really excited about!
SPARKS, Md. — The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee today announced that USA Lacrosse is one of five new members to its USOPC Affiliate Organizations Council. The newly admitted members, whose active status begins effective immediately, are: United States Muaythai Federation, USA Cricket, USA Federation for Sport Cheering, USA Kickboxing and USA Lacrosse.
You only get one chance to make a first impression. USA Lacrosse is doing its best to make sure that impression is a lasting and positive one for new players all over the country.
A recent Try Lax: Sankofa Series clinic with the Harlem Jets is a prime example of that work. It’s a perfect marriage of two USA Lacrosse initiatives coming together to drive the growth of the game. See the video clip below or visit our YouTube page for the full video.
Longtime USA Lacrosse volunteer Andrew Lee began a two-year term as chair of the organization’s Board of Directors in August. It’s not a stretch to say that he was born for this role.
In addition to serving in board roles for other nonprofits and businesses over the past two decades, Lee, who is half Seneca, has a special connection to lacrosse and its Native American heritage.
SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse has recently hired three new individuals in executive roles for the organization. Joining the organization are Kiernan Prechtl Schindler as vice president, commercial partnerships and ventures; Brian Silcott as vice president, sport growth and development; and Ellen Zavian as general counsel.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, a law best known for banning gender discrimination in the classroom and on campuses, as well as its key role in safeguarding gender equity in athletics. Like any good birthday celebration, this 50th anniversary marker provides an opportunity to reflect on its “life” — the accomplishments and the failures of the last 50 years, and the aspirations for the years ahead. If we were to ask 100 different women at a party to stand up and share their stories of Title IX, each would have a different one to tell.
SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse and Gatorade, the sports fuel leader, announced a multi-year partnership as the “Exclusive Sports Drink of USA Lacrosse.” Through the agreement, Gatorade becomes an Official Partner of USA Lacrosse and the U.S. national teams, providing access to its entire product portfolio.
