SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse has named Kristen Carr, Molly Ford Hutchinson, Megan Huether Nicotra, Caitlyn McFadden Phipps and Lauren Schwarzmann Skellchock as the girls’ coaches for the 2023 USA Select teams. Carr and Skellchock will coach the U18 team, Ford Hutchinson and Phipps will coach the U16 team and Huether Nicota will work with both teams.
All five coaches are returning to the program for at least the second year.
SPARKS, Md. — The USA Lacrosse Board of Directors, a group that helps set policy, strategy and financial oversight for the nonprofit governing body, has recently welcomed four new members. Rick Burton, Andrea Chen Lin, Juan-Pablo Mas and Shawn Nadelen each have started two-year terms as volunteers with the organization.
World Lacrosse, the international federation for lacrosse as recognized by the International Olympic Committee, issued an advisory to members on July 28, 2023 noting that events organized by International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL) have no affiliation with World Lacrosse. These events are not recognized or sanctioned by World Lacrosse, nor any of its member governing bodies.

SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse is excited to announce the first wave of boys’ club lacrosse tournaments that will use its age verification services during the 2023-24 season.
Earlier this year, the National Lacrosse Federation (NLF), an organization comprised of the top boys’ club lacrosse programs in the country, and USA Lacrosse entered into a transformational partnership to bring age verification to the boys’ club lacrosse landscape. The goal is to improve the integrity of competition, the quality of experience for all participants and player safety.
Physical and mental health are closely linked, and the relationship between them goes both ways. Whether an athlete is dealing with acute or chronic injury or illness, it’s important for coaches and caregivers to pay close attention to an athlete’s mental state as they cope with physical issues.
“If an athlete is optimal physically, that is going to enable them to optimize their mental health as well,” said Michele LaBotz, TrueSport Expert and sports medicine physician. “If they’re sick, injured, or otherwise not well physically, then mental health often suffers too.”

SPARKS, Md. — Kelly Amonte Hiller, head coach of the 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 National team, has named her staff. The U.S. team will compete in the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong, China next summer.
Serving on the staff will be Angela McMahon (manager), Tim McCormack (assistant coach), Michelle Tumolo (assistant coach) and Ann Elliott Whidden (assistant coach).
