Tom Hayes, a key figure in the growth of international lacrosse, a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the all-time winningest coach in Rutgers University men’s lacrosse history, passed away on Monday. He was 82 years old.
SPARKS, Md. — Registration is now open for the men’s and women’s regional tryouts for the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program (NTDP). The NTDP is a pathway to the U.S. National Team Program designed for high school students.
Last year, a total of 1,673 student-athletes from 43 states participated in regional tryouts with 88 ultimately being named to USA Select Teams that competed in the Brogden Cup.
SPARKS, Md. — The 2022 USA Lacrosse Youth Nationals is a sell-out with 92 of the nation’s top girls’ club teams coming to DE Turf in Frederica, Del., from July 12-13 in the 13U, 14U and 15U age groupings. The 14U and 15U championship games will be streamed live on Lax Sports Network for the second straight year.
SPARKS, Md. – After leading their teams to strong starts to the season, Clemson senior attackman Garret Brennan and Florida Gulf Coast junior goalie Grant Shafer have been named the USA Lacrosse MCLA Players of the Month in Division I and II, respectively, for February.
Brennan has been the big gun in Clemson’s march to a 7-0 record and a No. 2 ranking in the polls. The Kensington, Md., product has amassed at least five points in every game, including five goals and an assist against No. 14 Georgia, and four goals and a helper in a win over No. 6 Georgia Tech.
SPARKS, Md. — The 2022 USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament, the nation’s oldest and longest-running women’s lacrosse event, is set for May 28-29 at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Bel Air, Md. The event was first held in 1933 and has evolved into one of the premier recruiting events for high school girls’ lacrosse players looking to play at the collegiate level.
Players compete for regional all-star teams that are unaffiliated with their high school or club teams in one of the most geographically-diverse and accessible recruiting events in the sport.
SPARKS, Md. — Head coach Jenny Levy and her staff have named the final 18-player roster that will represent the United States in this summer’s World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship. USA Lacrosse will host the world championship from June 29 – July 9, 2022 at Towson (Md.) University.
The 2022 slate of college and high school games on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse headquarters begins this weekend, kicking off with a Top 20 women’s showdown between Connecticut and James Madison on Saturday at 1 p.m.
James Madison, ranked No. 14 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse poll, is led by All-American goalie Molly Dougherty while No. 20 Connecticut features All-American midfielder Sydney Watson. SPARKS, Md. — In an effort to help keep youth players as safe as possible, all new and renewing coach members of USA Lacrosse will be required to complete an online course as part of the organization's abuse prevention training program. The new requirement goes into effect on July 1, 2022. Criminal background checks, completed every two years, have already been a requirement for USA Lacrosse coach members since 2018.
