As one would expect in a place like Casper, Wyoming, outdoor recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking and skiing are quite popular. Lacrosse hopes to join that roster in the near future.

With support from USA Lacrosse, which provided sticks and other equipment, the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming recently hosted a two-day event designed to introduce the game and empower youth. Providing hands-on skills training through clinics, and competition opportunities with a Flex6 tournament, the event drew over 200 youth participants.

SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse’s investment in age verification provides a valuable resource for the lacrosse community to facilitate fair and safer play. For USA Lacrosse members, this is a free, one-time process in which they upload a valid proof of age document and their record will be updated to indicate age verified status.

Leagues and tournaments around the country can then work with USA Lacrosse — also free of charge — to utilize the service to appropriately segment players by age groupings.

Four years ago, four freshmen at Mamaroneck (N.Y.) High School enrolled in an elective class called Original Civic Research and Action (OCRA). The goal of the class is to have students research their community, identify a challenge or issue that needs attention, and then develop a problem-solving framework to address the issue. The class is progressive over four years, keeping students engaged in the process over the full span of their high school careers.
