COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, USA – The qualification path for lacrosse to the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 is set, with next year’s World Lacrosse Sixes Championships to serve as the primary qualifier for the sport’s return to the Olympic stage.
SPARKS, Md. – The U.S. Sixes Men’s and Women’s National Teams’ first step to the Olympics will come at the Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championship, set for September 29 – October 4, 2026 at the Oshawa Civic Fields in Oshawa, Ontario. The Pan-American event will serve as the initial step in the qualification process for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, pending final approval by the International Olympic Committee.
The first step towards securing tickets for the LA28 Olympics is now available. Individuals can complete a registration form on the LA28 website to be entered into the ticket draw.
From the pool of registered individuals, people will be randomly assigned designated times slots with an opportunity to purchase tickets.
Marie McCool, the Most Valuable Player of the women’s lacrosse competition at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China, has been named as one of 30 individuals nominated for The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025.
The LA28 Olympics have released the dates and times for the competitions for all of the sports included in the program for the next summer Olympics. Lacrosse, returning to the program as a medal sport for the first time in over a century, will compete from July 24-29, 2028.

USA Lacrosse will once again host some of the top men’s and women’s international teams in sixes competition at its headquarters from October 23-25, 2026. The U.S. men’s sixes national team will be back in action for the second time in three weeks when it competes at the World Lacrosse Super Sixes event in Oshawa, Ontario from Oct. 10-12. The U.S. went 2-1 at the Atlas Cup in late September, beating the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Puerto Rico while losing to Canada.

The Atlas Cup, an eight-team international event featuring the men’s and women’s sixes lacrosse teams from Canada, the Haudenosaunee Nationals, Puerto Rico and the United States, takes place from Sept. 26-28. The training camp runs from Sept. 23-25 in advance of the event.

SPARKS, Md. — Andy Shay, head coach of the U.S. Men’s Sixes National Team, has announced the 24 players that will be attending a three-day training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters from Sept. 23-25. The training camp comes ahead of two major sixes international competitions this fall – The Atlas Cup at USA Lacrosse in Sparks, Md. (Sept. 26-28) and World Lacrosse Super Sixes in Oshawa, Ontario (Oct. 10-12).
